At present 442 illegal immigrants are in detention in Hungary waiting for legal proceedings on their deportation to run their course, the Immigration and Citizenship Office told Magyar Idõk on Tuesday. National Police said another 638 migrants who have been convicted of illegal border entry are held in 10 prisons or police stations.

Szeged Sub-county Court on Monday ordered the custodial arrest of ten migrants who are suspected of inciting a protest by refugees at a shelter in Nagyfa, Csongrád county on Friday. The ten, of whom seven are Iraqis, two Syrians and one Serb, barred the door to their cells at Nagyfa temporary detention centre and destroyed the heating system.
