For some time now the St Andrews Ball has been gathering pace. Not so long ago only a handful gathered to celebrate Scotland’s national day. Now, thanks to some hard work and charm, Duncan Graham has gathered the masses together for another, hugely successful bash at the Marriott Hotel on Saturday.

Xpats are kindly invited to join the celebration of St. Andrew’s Day on Saturday the 26th of November 2016, the guest speaker will be HMA HE Mr Iain Lindsay OBE British Ambassador to Hungary. Registration and welcome drinks from 18.30 before welcoming speech at 19:00 and then a three course gala dinner accompanied by wine, beer and whisky.

The opposition Együtt party has filed a report to police over suspected fraud linked to Árpád Habony, the prime minister’s informal advisor. The party’s leader, Viktor Szigetvári, said Habony’s lawful income is insufficient for paying back loans and his wealth stems from murky sources, while he maintains links with people handling taxpayer money.

A commemoration was held to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók (1881-1945) in the Budapest Farkasrét Cemetery on Friday. “We must continue to duly preserve and further promote Bartók’s legacy,” the human resources minister told MTI after the event.
