Prosecutors have ordered an investigation into the damaging of the Soviet memorial on Szabadság tér on October 23 by Jobbik MP Elõd Novák, state news channel M1 reported. Novák had attempted to remove the hammer and sickle from the monument after holding a press conference on the square. When police stopped him, Novák began to attack the plinth of the memorial with a hammer and chisel.
