This year’s MasterCard Balaton Sound attracted the same record number of visitors as it did last year. A total of 145 000 fans from almost 60 countries came together to celebrate at the sunny shores of Lake Balaton. Hungary will spend a total of 53 billion forints (EUR 167m) on tasks related to water management in the next five years, a deputy state secretary of the cabinet said. Addressing an event on the occasion of National Irrigation Day, Dávid Mezei said that the sum was part of 1,250 billion forints (EUR 3.9bn) in European Union funding for Hungary’s rural development programmes between 2014-2020.
