A travelling exhibition installed in a train wagon was opened at Budapest’s Nyugati railway station. It pays tribute to Hungarians deported to Soviet forced labour camps in late 1944 and during the first half of 1945. The exhibition forms part of an anniversary programme series running until early 2017.

The General Assembly of Budapest has approved the master plan for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Budapest, there were 21 votes in favour, 1 against and 9 absent. The assembly members have also accepted the guarantee letter to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee.

As our investigation found, not only is the agency paying well above market prices to handpicked vendors, but it managed to select suppliers that formally do not even provide the services in question.

There is a nationwide shortage of cleaners, with 5,000 to 6,000 vacancies reported, national daily Népszabadság said. Quoting Zoltán Paár, head of the Hungarian Sanitation Technology Federation, the paper said that many job seekers live in small villages from where it is expensive to commute to work in a city.

It wasn’t dinner as usual in Sushi Sei on Bécsi út in the III District. Rather than the classic sushi affair, the Japanese restaurant in Óbuda had turned into a pop-up dinner dedicated to Japanese-fusion cuisine featuring the talents of two Hungarian chefs Róbert Kemény and Dénes Dlusztus, good friends since chef school, but currently working in London and Bergen, respectively.
