The US Department of State defined the way migrants and asylum seekers are handled among the gravest human rights problems in Hungary in 2015 in its country report. The report pointed to xenophobic rhetoric and a lack of humanitarian aid, and noted Hungarian legislation passed last year that made illegal crossing a criminal offence punishable with imprisonment and expulsion.
Retailers Play Down Sunday Shopping Change

Large food retail chains responded coolly to the news that the law on restricting shopping on Sundays is to be repealed. Spar said it will do its best to establish conditions for Sunday reopening. Only those units will be opened where consumer demand justifies it, the company said, most likely in city centres and tourist areas.

A Budapest court ruled for the pre-trial detention and transfer to French authorities of ten out of the 12 Hungarian nationals suspected of trafficking Hungarian women to work as prostitutes in France. The French authorities put out a European arrest warrant for the 12 men who were taken into custody in Hungary on Monday in a raid coordinated with Hungarian police, the court said in a statement.
