Hungarian Cinema Breaks Records in 2025 with Box Office and Festival Success

NFI-backed Hungarian movies pulled in 2.282 billion forints at the box office with 1.07 million admissions from January 1 to December 14 — nearly double last year's audience. They also snagged over 50 international awards.

The Hungarian Dance University (MTE) will host the 3rd Budapest Ballet Grand Prix (BBGP) from 17–21 November, bringing together young dancers from around the world for a week of competition and performance across Budapest’s leading venues — the MTE campus, the National Dance Theatre, and the Palace of Arts (Müpa).

On display until 19 August. The respective documentary photos of Wanda Martin (b. 1991) and Gábor Martin (b. 1953) are separated by more than forty years and some two thousand kilometres. Yet the social phenomenon they sensitively portray is almost the same, if the subcultural milieu in question is fairly closely defined.

Editors have never been a band who do what’s expected. When they emerged in the early 2000s, university friends from Birmingham, they were swept into a wave of indie groups with whom they had little in common beyond playing guitars.
