Hungarian-born János Richter, known to the world as Hans Richter, was one of the most influential personalities in the world of music of his age.
He was the first to conduct the a most important pieces of the 19th century, the complete Der Ring des Nibelungen in Bayreuth. The artist, who was a friend of Wagner and Liszt's, later often turned up at the Opera House, and was also linked to the establishment of the London Symphony Orchestra.
The concert recorded in 2018 presents the sacred side of Wagner with excerpts from Tannhäuser and Parsifal as well as a rarity: his arrangement of Stabat Mater by Pergolesi.
