Hungarian Folk Singing Class In English @  Háló Center
5-week session: Now on until 21 October, on Monday evenings between 6 - 8 pm at Háló Cultural and Community Center (S4) near Astoria.
Full session: 8000 Ft.
Drop-in: 2000 Ft./class

Ones interested can learn beautiful traditional Hungarian folk songs.

Sessions are open to participants of all musical and language backgrounds.

This 5-week class will cover a variety of songs, taught directly from village source recordings.

Participants receive a pronunciation guide, printed song lyrics, English translations, recordings, and background information on the songs.

The class is held by Zina Bozzay, a native English speaker and active performer, arranger, and teacher of Hungarian folk songs. As founder of the Hungarian Folk Singing Circle in San Francisco, she has taught both Hungarian speakers and non-speakers in the US for over a decade, as well as this year at Hungarian Heritage House in Budapest. She is known for her friendly, accessible teaching style, academic rigor, and contagious enthusiasm.
