Harmony Jazz Workshop: Horváth Cintia Quintet
Hungarian singer Cintia Horváth has practically no „history” behind her, she has sung with no one famous. All she has is a totally amazing talent.

She has just finished at the world famous Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest but she turned up at one of our talent-spotting contests and promptly knocked us sideways.

September year-before-last her quintet had the stage to themselves and, suprisingly, packed out and brought down the house.

Early 2017 she was invited to the annual Jazz Showcase at the Palace of Arts in Budapest with such luminaries present in the audience as one-time editor of Downbeat magazine, Howard Mandel, the main organiser of the London Jazz Festival, John Cumming as well as jazz journalists and 606 Club’s own Steve Rubie.

None of them said what’s customary on these occasions, namely that „she is very talented but not quite ready”.

She was deemed by all to be extremely talented and more than ready. So much so that Steve Rubie invited her to sing with British musicians at the 606 which she did with astonishing success last month.

This time you can hear her with her own band. Guitarist Szabolcs Várvölgyi, saxophonist Izsák Vidákovics, bass player Ábel Dénes and drummer Benedek Kárpáti make up this young but formidable crew.
