Olympic Champ Extradited To Hungary
"Former Olympic wrestling gold medalist Péter Farkas was flown home to Hungary last night after authorities in Andorra handed him over to Hungarian police officers at a customs office on the Andorran-Spanish border.

He had gone on the run after being sentenced to a seven-year prison term on December 12, 2009, for cultivating marijuana.

Farkas, who won the 82-kg Greco-Roman gold medal in the Barcelona games of 1992, left the courtroom during a break in proceed-ings and did not return. He was arrested in an Andorran hotel later that month.

Police discovered and impounded thousands of plants in a search of an 18th District house on October 14, 2004. The former Olympic champion, his brother Károly Farkas and a third man were detained on the spot.

Farkas was brought back to Hungary shortly before midnight, Kossuth Rádió reported. He was then driven to a Budapest prison."
