Environmental Hurdle Race Celebrates Earth Day In Hungary
"On April 22, U.S. Embassy Budapest staff came out to support an environmental competition in Gödöllő organized by the Green Club of Gödöllő University’s Environmental Department. Ten hurdles were set up in a park where teams of students and their parents could test their knowledge about various environmental settings and compete with each other. Among others, they learned about the soil, water, flora and fauna of the area, and obtained information in a playful way about alternative energy, selective waste collection and healthy nutrition.

Jointly with the mayor of the town, Deputy Chief of Mission Jeffrey Levine opened the family event with remarks about the origins of Earth Day, the Obama administration’s endeavour to create a greener economy and he also highlighted the Embassy’s recent green achievements.

Mr. Levine arrived at the Earth Day Celebration in the Embassy’s first hybrid vehicle and all the participants were able to see the car in operation and get information about how it reduces CO2 emissions."
