Quick Guide to Top 5 +1 Christmas Fairs in Budapest this Year
Budapest reveals a whole new face during Advent time: the city is filled with decorative lights and the scent and melodies of Christmas. There are also lovely Christmas fairs in many parts of the city, all of which are truly wonderful.

1. City Hall Ice Park and Christmas Fair

1051 Budapest, Deák Ferenc tér

In the Christmas Fair at Deák Ferenc Square, you can buy unique Hungarian handmade gifts for your loved ones: special ornaments, ceramics, and tasty gingerbreads.

You can enjoy classic winter dishes at the stalls, such as chimney cakes or roasted chestnuts, but you can also have some lángos (fried flatbread) or a mug of mulled wine.

In City Hall Park, next to Deák Ferenc Square, you will even find an ice skating rink with an ice corridor, which is open until 2 February.

2. Advent Basilica

1051 Budapest, Szent István tér

At the square in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica, you will find a huge Advent Fair until 1 January: a towering Christmas tree, nearly 150 Hungarian exhibitors of handcrafted products, a nativity scene, a monumental Advent wreath, light shows in the afternoons, and concerts are waiting for you.

No wonder why the Advent Basilica has already won the title of Europe’s most beautiful Christmas fair 4 times.

To put it in a nutshell, you cannot miss this fair.

3. Vörösmarty Classic Xmas

1051 Budapest, Vörösmarty tér

Unil 31 December, you can experience the Christmas spirit and the bustle of fairs at Vörösmarty Square as well, with its tall Christmas tree, colourful decorative lights, and enormous Christmas tree decorations. In addition to handicraft exhibitors and gastro stalls, you can also enjoy musical performances at this fair.

Moreover, children can take a free ride on a red mini train.

4. Advent in Óbuda

1033 Budapest, Óbuda, Fő tér - Szentlélek tér

Óbuda also creates a festive atmosphere along the cobbled street between Main Square (Fő tér) and Szentlélek Square, you can immerse yourself in the world of craft vendors, gastronomic specialities and Christmas lights.

You can even skate on the ice skating rink near Main Square until 14 January, and at Advent weekends numerous concerts and programmes will keep you entertained.

5. Újbuda Christmas Fair

Budapest, Kőrösy József utca (the street next to Allee mall)

Handicraft and gastro stalls will also take over the promenade next to Allee Mall until 24 December. 

You can choose from numerous street food delicacies, mulled wine and hot chocolate, special desserts, and unique handmade gifts.

On Corvin Promenade (Corvin sétány), you can soak up the Christmas spirit of the festive season until 24 December, you can taste a wide range of delicious dishes and drinks.
