'Summer Camp', Museum Of Fine Arts Until 30 July
"Summer day camps are offered from June – August. Throughout the week children expand and deepen their knowledge and understanding of art in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The camp is divided into large group discussions about the topic, exploring works of art connected to the week’s topic in the gallery, and creative studio sessions where campers use art materials and techniques or drama to express themselves.

Through discussion, games and tasks participants learn about the objects on display as well as the period and place in which they were created.

We offer camps for children 6-12 and 12-16 years old. Younger children often make a book during the week illustrating where they have been and what they have seen in the museum while older teenagers document their experience by collecting information and drawings in an “art folder.”

The camp ends with an exhibition and presentation for parents and friends. Campers become “tour guides” and take their guests on a tour of the museum, explaining how chosen works of art connect to the week’s topic and then invite them to an exhibition to see the art works made during the week.

Past weekly topics have been:
How can we conquer evil?
Step into the frame and look around
Who am I? Who were they?
Decorative or Functional?

Exploring the miniscule to the gigantic at the Museum of Fine Arts Summer camps in English are currently offered to teenagers with a working knowledge of English."
