U.S., German And Israeli Embassies Honor Holocaust Teachers

Following remarks by the Minister, German Ambassador Dorothee Jantzke-Wenzel, Israeli Ambassador Aliza Bin-Noun and Ambassador Kounalakis emphasizing tolerance and the importance of remembering the Holocaust, the teachers and invited guests were treated to a reception. In her remarks, Ambassador Kounalakis stressed that we all had responsibility to resist injustice, and intolerance and indifference in whatever forms they may take and ensure that those who were lost did not go in vain.
Centropa is a Vienna-based organization that is dedicated to reconstructing the lives of Holocaust survivors in the Central-East Europe region through photographs. As part of its program, Centropa brings teachers from various countries together every summer to train them in the innovative method of teaching the Holocaust with the use of photographs. This summer, more than 50 teachers from 11 countries including Hungary, the United States and Canada took part in the program that took them to Prague, Vienna and Budapest."
