PM Orbán Optimistic On Hungarian Football
"Hungarian football has an opportunity to return to the forefront, and there will be a generation that will take it to the pinnacles of the football world, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview to be broadcast on Sport TV later today.

Speaking ahead of the opening of Hungary’s Euro 2012 qualification campaign, Orbán said improvement requires a conscious education, a committed government and a responsible sports federation. He added that the appointment of OTP chief Sándor Csányi as president of the Football Association will be a change for the better.

He encouraged young people to play football, even if they do not become top athletes, saying the game builds character.

Orbán called fan conduct at Hungarian stadiums a major cultural problem which needs to be changed.

The cabinet will support a five- to ten-year development plan if sports leaders produce one, Orbán said.

The interview will be shown on Sport1 at 6 p.m. this evening, ahead of Hungary’s match with Sweden. Excerpts and the video have been posted on www.orbanviktor.hu."
