About United Way Hungary
The United Way Hungary network was established in 1991 to strengthen civil society by supporting critical health and human services based on needs assessments at the community level. The national organization, United Way Hungary (incorporated as Erőforrás Foundation), was established in 1998, and is a member of United Way Worldwide. United Way Hungary must adhere to strict requirements of accountability, transparency, effectiveness and efficiency.
In order to remain a member of the global network, United Way Hungary annually verifies its compliance with United Way Worldwide’s global requirements. The United Way Hungary network has three local affiliates. Together, we fund and develop programs to address pressing social, health and education issues. Network members are United Way Vértes Vidéke, United Way Kiskunfélegyháza, and United Way Kisalföld.
United Way Hungary's strategic direction shifted in recent years to leading an effort to raise awareness and prevent accidents, and aid those caring for children injured in accidents. This shift reflected a desire to concentrate limited resources and realize greater results. In 2010, the organization completed its Community Impact Agenda, which turned the organization's full attention to prevention and finding solutions to community problems."
