- 9 Nov 2010 12:00 AM
Mr Dorey was delighted to meet former Hungarian Olympics Sabre Champion Tibor Pezsa at the Centre - having lived in the same house as Mr Pezsa when he was first posted to Hungary in 1989.
Greg then met Mr István Szilvássy, President of the Hungarian Settlements’ and Regions' Developers, and Mr Lóránt Horváthy, Deputy Mayor who showed him various Tata sights related to the UK - the "English Garden", which is being restored; graves from the British equestrian community at the Almási street cemetery (there was a large British community of jockeys, trainers etc. in Tata before the First World War); and the stud and racing stables at Dióspuszta.
Mr Szilvássy explained his plans for an equestrian event in Tata to mark St George's Day in 2011. Finally, he met Mayor (and MP) József Michl and discussed commercial opportunities, cooperation in the field of education and future plans for Tata."
