Hungarian Mathematician Honoured In Japan
"Hungarian mathematician Laszlo Lovasz was awarded the Kyoto Prize, one of the world's most coveted scientific distinctions, in Japan on Wednesday for his life’s work.

Lovasz, 62, was a member of the Academy of Sciences at the age of 31. He is director of the Mathematics Institute at Budapest's Eotvos Lorand University, and has lectured at Princeton, Yale and the Microsoft Research Institute.

Lovasz received letters of congratulation from US President Barack Obama and President Pal Schmitt.

The Kyoto Prize carries a gold medal and a Ft 120 million cash award. The honour is awarded by Japan’s Inamori Foundation for outstanding contributions to the betterment of society."
