Ex Hungarian PM Calls For Constitution Referendum

Fidesz’s intention to implement a single-party Constitution is politically illegitimate, he continued, saying the party did not seek, nor could it receive authorisation for such action.
Former justice minister Pál Vastagh said the rule of law exists, but “faces serious problems and it is hard to predict the outcome”.
László Majtényi, chairman of the Eötvös Károly Public Policy Institute, said courts issue verdicts in line with the rule of law, a free press is still functioning and the Constitutional Court still operates, but the Constitution, the independence of institutions and fundamental rights are being curbed."
