Invitation: Art Meets Theatre, Műcsarnok Budapest, 6 - 8 January
"For some time now, literary evenings, concerts or theatre performances have been anything but rare guests in exhibition halls. Műcsarnok’s latest project, however, is not the usual side event in one of the sister arts: the play entitled Ruben Brandt was written by well-known visual artist Milorad Krstić specifically for Műcsarnok, and is performed by Forte Company, a dance theater company led by Csaba Horváth, on six occasions in December. The last three performances on January 6th, 7th and 8th 2012 will also feature English language synopsis.

What happens when what is at stake is no longer the value of art, but its very existence? Shot through with black humour and surreal facts, this gangster story stars art thief Ruben Brandt, who obtains stunning works of art by plundering the most famous museums, galleries and private collections in the world—while material wealth is not what he is after. Private eye Mike Kowalski is obsessed with solving the crime mystery, and he has a method the thieves cannot possibly suspect: watching classic films with the sound turned off…
