Zsolt Patkai of the state weather service said the coldest conditions are forecast in the southern counties.

The nightly low will be around –20C, while daytime highs will be –5C to –10C.

Conditions will slowly ease from Sunday, with –10C to –15C lows at night, rising to 0C to –5C in the daytime."
