Hungarian Footballers Held In Betting Scandal
"One current and three former players with the REAC football club were detained on suspicion of taking part in an international betting scandal on Tuesday. The suspects are current player Krisztián Nyerges, and former club players Tibor Pomper, Tamás Somorjai, and Gábor Torma.

REAC, based in Budapest’s 15th District, is in the second division of the Hungarian football league.

Its director committed suicide on March 2 when allegations of match-fixing at the club came to light, although he was not himself involved in any wrongdoing.

One former player confessed to the crimes of which he is accused, while Nyerges and one other suspect filed a complaint against the accusation, and pleaded innocent.

The National Bureau of Investigation and prosecutors staff detained the four.

Prosecutors have so far questioned 29 people in the case. Ten of them are in custody, three are under house arrest and one is banned from leaving his home."
