New Tax Looms For Food Producers In Hungary
Companies involved in food or fodder production must pay by May 31 a new food safety monitoring tax that was announced only last week. The announcement was made by the National Food Chain Safety Office, a body created earlier this year from the merger of agriculture administration office MGSZH and the Hungarian Food Safety Office.

More than 100,000 companies will be required to pay 0.001% of their annual revenues of the preceding business year.

Producers with less than Ft 8 million revenue are exempt from the tax.
