Domestic Violence Initiative Succeeds In Hungary
A popular initiative to punish domestic violence has succeeded, as the Elet-Ertek Alapitvany (Life-Value Foundation) has collected 100,000 valid signatures, twice the required number, Nepszabadsag reports.

The Foundation wants to make sure that domestic violence becomes an independent item in the criminal code. Parliament must put the issue on its agenda within three months but the popular initiative does not oblige it to amend the relevant law.
