Győr Ballet: La Vie En Rose, Festival Theatre Budapest, 7 June
La vie en rose is a piece of dance theatre punctuated in spectacular style by the timeless chansons of Maurice Chevalier, Edith Piaf, Gilbert Bécaud and Jaques Brel. The audience experiences these popular and familiar songs through the homeless Jef, living and breathing their nostalgia and bitter-sweet melancholy without losing any of their self-deprecating irony. Jef finds shelter on the streets of Paris, where the old accordion player becomes well known by passers-by.

Big city life has left him standing, forcing him to take a back seat. Time stood still only in the chansons – the chansons themselves never age. The immediacy of music brings the past to life, and the brightest stars of French song rekindle long-lost emotions and forgotten heroes.
