Hungarian Inventor Wins Case Against Adidas
The Budapest Court of Appeals has ruled in favour of Hungarian inventor Laszlo Oroszi against sportswear giant Adidas, ending a ten-year legal battle in a patent infringement case. The court ruled that Adidas unlawfully used Oroszi's patent without his authorisation in making football boots.

Oroszi says he developed the ball-directing striped line football shoe in 1996. He said he later presented the concept to Adidas, which declined to take the offer.

Oroszi sought legal remedy after he found out that the company had launched a football shoe based on his concept before the European Football Championships in 2000.

Later the company initiated a nullity proceeding against Oroszi’s patent, claiming that they used their own ideas.

Adidas issued a statement maintaining that the company had not breached patent rights.
