Szent Gellért Tér In Budapest Flooded
Water gushed from two cracked mains on Orlay utca in the 11th District, flooding a large part of Szent Gellért tér Sunday afternoon, sources report. Traffic came to a standstill. Passengers were asked to get off BKV trams and buses. Police sealed off Bartók Béla út as far as Kosztolányi tér.

The water was switched off Sunday evening after it gushed for over an hour at the corner of Bartók Béla út and Orlay utca, following a high-pressure water pipe burst. Waterworks spokeswoman Zsuzsanna Lévai said repairing the pipe network and the road surface could take years. Local residents said water on Orlay utca reached up to the second floor.
