Trains To Become Cheaper Than Buses In Hungary
The Development Ministry will overhaul public transport fares from September aimed at making train travel less expensive than bus transport. Although the ministry did not declare its policy explicitly, fares for bus travel will be more expensive than on the same routes covered by train, Népszabadság writes.

The restructuring will include varied fare rates for national and suburban services, the ministry said.

Népszabadság estimates the extra costs from the changes at Ft 3 billion, to be paid by those who prefer road transport.

The ministry will assess the results six months after introducing the new fare scheme and make any necessary corrections.
