Nokia has axed a further 200 jobs at its plant in Komarom in the third and final wave of job cuts that total 2,300, factory council head Zoltan Laszlo confirmed. Employees were given generous compensation, three months extra pay in addition to the legal minimum and job-seeking benefits as well, he added.

Nokia announced plans to dismiss 2,300 workers from its Hungarian subsidiary last year as it is relocating production of smartphones to Asia.

The company dismissed 1,200 employees in the first wave of the job cuts in March. A further 900 received notices of dismissal in May.
