In 2012 this world famous festival will feature around 5000 different wines, from 15 countries, and 220 wineries. Held again in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Buda Castle, wine lovers can mix and mingle with the most talented winemakers in Hungary - many are proud winners at prestigious international and domestic wine competitions. As always the winemakers will be happy to chat and answer any questions from wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. Read on to find out how they plan to take wine tasting to a different level, and for more about the food and musical entertainment on offer too.

This year young winemakers will be in focus as descendants of most well-known winemaker generations of the past 15-20 years. Wine-lovers will have a chance to taste their 'new wave wines' expressing new energy, new experience, taking wine tasting to a different level.

Visitors can enjoy five days of cultural and musical entertainement. The most popular Hungarian bands of world music, folk music, folk dance and the sound of jazz music will make the Wine Festival 2012 another great event to remember.

Both wine connoisseurs and novices are welcome at the popular Wine University to be held again on September 12-16. Wine-lovers and those wanting to refresh their knowledge of wine can enjoy high standard, interesting presentations linked with wine tastings of renowned experts at the two-day course and many other interesting topics.

A colourful, appealing mix of dance and music in honour of grape and winemakers, the Grape Harvest March  - Folk Music & Dance Gala is to be held on September 15 in the Buda Castle, offering a real sight and a celebratory atmosphere to summon up the pleasures of harvests past.

The participants in that procession will include folk dancers from the wine regions concerned dressed in their folk costumes, prominent persons and members of 'wine orders', and associations of wine-lovers from the wine regions of Hungary, together with representatives of the 'Truffle Order of Knights'.

This year the Wine Festival will again offer special Gastronomic delights using quality domestic ingredients, tastes of the guest country and cuisine of the regions. Old recipes rethought, handmade traditional products and lively bistro cuisine will all be offers in the Buda Castle.

Traditional homemade strudel, oven-baked Hungarian pizza, classic stove cake, special roast, delicacies made of Mangalica (ancient Hungarian pig breed), Hungarian, French and Spanish sheep, goat and cow cheese, ham specialties and homemade smoked delicacies will all be there to be enjoyed.

The Wine Festival also offers entertainment and relaxation for families with children. In addition to the play centre childminding service, free, high quality entertainment are also offered for children.

At the Wine Festival, free internet access will be available again this year not only making it possible to continuously keep in touch with friends and to immediately share your experiences but also providing a possibility to use smartphones for different purposes at the festival. The software includes map of Wine Festival, data and contact details of exhibiting winemakers, a presentation of performing artists and groups, recommended wine tours, important information of public interest and many other useful applications.

The  Charity wine auction is to be held for the 14th time this year showing an example of how important the needy and less fortunate are to successful members of society and prospering entrepreneurs of grape and wine sector. The traditional beneficiary of the nearly 3 Million HUF accumulated through donations and purchases is the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service ensuring that the revenue gets to the right places.
