The first silver in chronological order was obtained by wheelchair fencer Zsuzsa Krajnyák. Shortly later, Tamás Tóth came second in the 50 metre freestyle.
At the Olympic Stadium, Ilona Biacsi and Bernadett were the first of the Hungarian athletics team to compete, the former obtaining a bronze in the 1500 metres.
The Hungarian Paralympic delegation includes 33 members. The team has already obtained two gold, four silver and four bronze medals in the British capital, thus improving its performance of one gold and five bronze medals achieved in Peking, 2008.
Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog was following up successes directly in London and besides providing his support to Hungarian athletes he also presented medals in women’s individual fencing. "We're on a roll, the Hungarians are doing well and everybody is glad to hear about these successes", Zoltán Balog said in London. He also praised the British organization of the games. He added that disabled athletes can serve as a great example for those healthy people who give up fighting, for they show them how to live a full life even in a disadvantaged situation.
It is especially important for future generations to be aware of these good results since in September the Hungarian Government introduced compulsory daily physical education in elementary schools, which motivates children to do sports, inspires better performance and improves health too.
