Cabinet To Outlaw Slot Machines In Hungary
The cabinet proposes outlawing the operation of slot machines, Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár announced after an unscheduled cabinet meeting was held at 8 a.m. Monday morning. The cabinet submitted a proposal to Parliament to abolish gambling halls and electronic casinos, which is expected to pass today in a fast-track procedure.

“With the exception of casinos functioning on concession,“ slot machines will probably be outlawed starting a few weeks from now. Three casinos operate on concession in Hungary, Lázár said, adding that in future new casinos will be held to more stringent conditions.
In the debate, Lázár called slot machines immoral and unacceptable, arguing that they take many families to bankruptcy. Grave national security risks have arisen in connection with the gambling industry, he added.
