Council Newspaper Blots Out Mayor In Hungary
Socialist mayor of Hajdúdorog Tamás Csige was edited out of a photograph in the October issue of the town council newspaper, Népszabadság reports. Csige leads a local council dominated by Fidesz members and the newspaper Hajdúdorogi Újság serves Fidesz interests, according to many local residents.

The photograph, taken in late September, shows the mayor taking part in a local festival with children. It was posted on the paper’s website on October 11 but the print edition carried the picture without the mayor in it.

Csige said he plans to take legal action.

The newspaper’s editor, Andrea Pogácsás Rácz, said the doctored photograph was included because she believed that a picture of the children should be published. She apologised to everyone.
