Parliament Bans Slot Machines In Hungary
Parliament passed a bill banning gambling halls and electronic casinos in a fast-track procedure on Tuesday. Under the new law slot machines may only be operated in three existing casinos, and catering spots may no longer host them. The bill will enter into force on the day following final presidential approval, when former licences will lose their validity.

Members of the Hungarian Gambling Federation will initiate a class action lawsuit, president István Schreiber announced on Tuesday, claiming that 1,200 entrepreneurs will have to fire 40,000 people by next Monday at the latest.

An unconfirmed report drafted for the cabinet alleges that groups operating slot machines have accumulated billions of forints in cash and have been attempting to bribe public administration officials and lawmakers, unidentified government sources told news website Index on Tuesday.
