Rare Private Theatre Opens Today In Budapest
- 30 Oct 2012 8:01 AM
Budapest’s Játékszín will reopen as a private theatre and celebrate its centenary today with a production entitled Mr. és Mrs. Owners Alexandra Metz, Tamás Bánk, Kristóf Németh and Attila Szűcs hope to stage 15-20 shows a month at the Teréz körút venue by next spring.
They plan to generate revenues by leasing the theatre, selling tickets and by taking advantage of corporate tax rules.
Some employees of the theatre have reported the owners to prosecutors, alleging that they were given the opportunity to buy the theatre from the National Asset Manager for Ft 3.1 million, well below its real value and without a tender.
