Art historian Mária Illyés, daughter of the late Gyula Illyés, has found a hitherto unknown novel by the writer when arranging his manuscripts. The handwritten text could have been written by her father between 1949 and 1956, Illyés said on Tuesday. The novel, entitled Itélet elõtt (Before a Verdict), tells the story of life in a village from 1935 to the early 1950s. The first part is expected to be published in the November issue of the periodical Holmi.
