Expat Outcry As Warburtons Stops Selling In Hungary
In reply to recent pleas by expats in Budapest asking Warburtons about sales of UK style crumpets; bread and English muffins in Hungary, the company made a statement on 29 November 2012, "Unfortunately we've made the decision to end our trial of selling Warburtons products in certain parts of Central Europe. We have put every effort into making this work, but a number of challenging factors such as high distribution costs, have meant that at present we're unable to continue."

Replies to this statement included, "please bring back the Warburtons bread to Budapest...We don't have any good soft, brown sandwich bread alternatives," by Emily Huitsing Laird. "So sad to find out that our favourite bread products our family love are now no longer available in Budapest. We really need Warbartons to come back..." wrote Tania McGregor. "Is there anything that we can do to help you bring back your bread to Central Europe? We are so sad that it is not on the shelves anymore in Hungary.." asked Melissa Ewing.

Britain’s favourite family baker's statement continued, "We regret having to make this decision - especially when it affects such loyal customers as yourselves. But please be assured that we are continuing to explore options which will hopefully mean we can find a solution. In the meantime, we thank you for your loyalty and we promise to keep you updated with any progress." Ros Chisholm Clark wrote in reply, "Thank you Warburtons for your reply, I do hope u can find a solution that brings ur products back to Budapest soon!"
