The Court also found that defence of a steady relationship between same-sex couples follows from the right to human dignity, self-determination, freedom of action and the right to free unfolding of personality.

Fundamental rights ombudsman Máté Szabó hailed yesterday’s ruling as a forward-looking step of great importance, showing that legislative decisions can be corrected using the Basic Law.
