Invitation: Harmonia Jazz Workshop, Budapest Jazz Club, 14 December
- 14 Dec 2012 8:00 AM
Songstress Niki Voros is not one of the many young singers who, having finished at the jazz faculty, sell out immediately for understandable financial reasons. She is a true jazz singer, the real thing, who is capable of turning almost any material into high quality jazz. Her slightly smoky voice fits the tradition, she improvises with startling originality but with due restraint.
Her debut album is a knock-out. Niki sings from the heart and is on the same wavelength with her musicians who are Laszlo Voros on piano, Attila Peterfi on bass guitar and the fantastic Gyorgy Jeszenszky on drums. Guest artists: Eszter Strausz flute and Gergo Kovats saxes.
Entry fee: 1200 forints
The new venue is in the 13th district at Hollán Ernő utca 7 on the premises of the old Odeon-Lloyd cinema
There is no compulsion to eat or drink but there is a well stocked bar with also cocktails made to order at non-extortionate prices. For food you’ll have to resort to a staple diet of sandwiches, crisps and nuts.
