Public Transportation In Budapest During The Holiday Season
BKK Centre for Budapest Transport provides continuous public transport service during the festive season. On 24 December after 16:00 night buses will be operating. On New Year’s Eve double frequencies will be provided on the night bus network. Please see the details below:

Parking

No parking fees apply from 22 December 2012 until 1 January 2013 with the exception of the parking areas below Buda Castle and the Citadella in District I; the parking area in front of Budagyöngye shopping centre in district II; the parking area next to Flórián shopping centre in District III; the Margitsziget parking area in District XIII; and the section of 56-osok tere between Hősök tere and Benczúr utca in District XIV, where regular fees apply. The bus parking area on 56-osok tere will be closed due to a charity event (“Mikulásgyár”) until 24:00 on 27 December and reopened from 0 (midnight) on 28 December 2012.

In addition to the above, regular parking fees apply at the guarded P+R facilities operated by BKK (Hűvösvölgy terminus, Újpest-Városkapu metro station, Kőbánya-Kispest metro station).

Monday, 24 December 2012

On Monday, 24 December 2012 services will be provided on the regular Saturday schedule until the stopping of daily service planned for 16:00. From that time onwards, night-time services will be provided.

The last metro trains of the day arrive at Deák Ferenc tér station at 15:25, where metro lines M2 and M3 will mutually wait for each other and depart at 15:30 to provide a convenient transfer to our passengers.

Based on Saturday schedule, the last departure of the day of buses, trams and trolleybuses is around 16:00. All surface transport from metro stations will wait for the last metro of the day. Bus 200E from Terminal 2 of Liszt Ferenc International Airport will serve Határ út metro station instead of the Kőbánya-Kispest metro station terminus between 14:46 and 16:06 in order to provide convenient transfers to night buses starting their service from the afternoon.

Boat service D13 does not operate on this day.

Following the stopping of daytime transport services planned for around 16:00, the usual night transport services will be provided including the usual transfers between lines. After 23:00 services will be running on the regular Saturday night schedule.

Night-time services in the afternoon and evening of Monday, 24 December 2012. During the night of 24 December and in the early hours of 25 December, Saturday night schedules will be in place along with restrictions indicated in the table below.

During the night of 24 December and in the early hours of 25 December, during the night of 25 December and in the early hours of 26 December as well as during the night of 26 December and in the early hours of 27 December, night bus 914A will not be operating. Night bus 914 will be operating instead with usual frequency.

Tuesday and Wednesday, 25 and 26 December 2012

On Tuesday, 25 December and Wednesday, 26 December 2012, Sunday schedules will be in place. Buses serving the shopping centres and supermarkets (22, 64, 104, 123, 126 and 162) will not be operating. Buses 64A, 104A, 123A, 162A will be operating instead of the bus lines above without serving the supermarkets. Bus 126 is an exception; it will not be operating at all. Buses 38, 92, 138, 140 and 218 will not stop at the supermarkets as the shops will be closed. During the night of 25 December and in the early hours of 26 December as well as during the night of 26 December and in the early hours of 27 December, Sunday night schedules will be in place.

Night bus 914A will not be operating.

Thursday and Friday, 27 and 28 December 2012

On Thursday, 27 December and Friday, 28 December school-break daytime schedules will be in place with lower frequencies on some of the lines as indicated in the timetables.

Lower frequencies than the usual during school breaks are provided on the following lines:

· metro lines M1, M2 and M3

· suburban railway line H7

· trams 1, 2-es, 4-es, 6-os, 14-es, 18-as, 24-es, 47-es, 49-es, 50 and 61

· trolleybuses 70, 72, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 80A, 81 and 82

Monday, 31 December 2012

On 31 December 2012 regular Saturday schedules apply. Following the stopping of daily service, night buses serving Buda as well as those serving the areas within the Hungária ring road in Pest will have double frequencies with only a few exceptions.

Our front-door only boarding policy on lines 901, 908, 914A, 918, 931, 937, 960 and 990 will be suspended for the night due to the expected high number of passengers.

During the night of 31 December Tram 6 – after Tram 4 stops its daily service – will be running every 7-8 minutes.

Transfers between night buses operating on regular schedule will be ensured during the night as usual, however not in the case of the “extra frequency” lines.

On Tuesday, 1 January 2013 Sunday schedules will be in place. Buses serving the shopping centres and supermarkets (22, 64, 104, 123, 126 and 162) will not be operating. Buses 64A, 104A, 123A, 162A will be operating instead of the bus lines above without serving the supermarkets. Bus 126 is an exception; it will not be operating at all. Buses 38, 92, 138, 140 and 218 will not stop at the supermarkets as the shops will be closed.
