Budapest Secret Theatre Presents: Ancient History By David Ives, 10 January
Budapest Secret Theatre’s highly anticipated new production Ancient History by multi-award winning playwright David Ives, is about to hit the stage on 23 November and 5 December 2013 at Átrium Film-Színház.

In Ancient History we meet Jack and Ruth, who sing along to the opera, poke fun at the world and enjoy extraordinary sex.

They believe they are perfectly suited, but as they prepare for Ruth’s birthday party, cracks appear as the pressure of friends, family and cultural expectations increases. They may be wildly in love, but how well do they really know each other?

And are they being honest with each other – or themselves?

Although the play is set in a New York apartment, the themes are universal; love, passion, culture, identity. The show delivers high comedy and sobering truths in equal measure.

Bringing the couple to life are local actors Anna Kocsis and Márk Bubnó, directed by Virginia Proud, who brought audiences the enthusiastically received Hangovers, by Marianne Powell in May 2013.

Budapest Secret Theatre was established in October 2012, to bring quality English language theatre to Budapest. Ancient History is their fourth show and the group is establishing a strong following, not only within the international community, but with theatre lovers who enjoy seeing a production in the original language.
