Hungary's PM Orbán & Budapest Mayor Tarlós Sign Agreement
- 11 Mar 2013 8:01 AM
Under the agreement the city and the cabinet will establish joint working committees to select development projects that the cabinet will support, regarding public transport and projects on the Danube embankment.
Tarlós said the cabinet will reach an agreement with the city before August 31 on replenishing funds that were depleted by the fourth metro line and on financing extra costs arising from the project.
In response, Csaba Horváth, head of the Socialist Party group on city council, said the agreement will not mislead anybody, as the cabinet, by assuming the Ft 104 billion debt, will give back only one seventh of what it has stolen from Budapest. The establishment of the working committees means the complete elimination of Budapest’s independence, he added.
