'Fashion From First Hand' - WAMP Fashion In Budapest, 14 April
- 13 Apr 2013 9:00 AM
The fair will focus on fashion, but beyond the individually designed, hand-made clothes, accessories, bags and jewellery, which are more original and interesting than the products available in stores, works by graphic designers, pottery and toy-makers will be available, too.
The musume label, offering clothes and jewellery decorated with a special braiding technique has added models in pastels colours to their signature brightly coloured, sporty, casual items. Their popular textile necklaces will now feature new materials: foil and suede paper. MOSSKITO, which was only founded a few months ago, offers some exciting clothes and distinctive accessories. Their bag made by pressing recycled textile fibres reveals an environment-conscious and novel approach to fashion design.
Rethinking traditional costumes and motifs plays a more and more important role in international trends. Blue Paprika regards the Hungarian folk tradition as a source of inspiration and prepares clothes and jewellery combined with denim, using some enlarged age-old folk motifs in an abstract way. Matyódesign keeps the traditional motifs, but they embroider everyday items with them, reinventing this colourful and lively tradition. The items are designed by Borbála and Rozi Váczi and hand-made beautifully by women experienced in traditional Hungarian embroidery techniques.
WAMP+
The WAMP+ section will be back, offering a chance for designers to participate as VIP exhibitors. The Ille-Olla and the Urban Legend labels will be featured this time. Urban Legend will be presenting a brand new collection, along with Vanda Ferencz jewellery designer and the MIMM jewellery brand, well-known for its bird motifs. Judit Ducsai, whose bags are already popular, will showcase new models for men this Sunday. Anikó Róth has applied her signature girly artwork on a new object: she has designed a cute, touchable case for e-book readers.
At the WAMP markets, the exhibitors are just as interesting as the exhibited objects, since in most cases, the designers present their creations themselves, providing an opportunity for visitors to learn useful styling tips as well as some tricks of the trade.
