Hungary's Constitutional Court Rejects Caucus Status For DK
The Constitutional Court yesterday rejected a request from the Democratic Coalition to annul a House rule that prevents the party from forming an official parliamentary caucus.

Parliament raised the threshold of official caucus status from 10 MPs to 12 when the 10 Coalition MPs left the Socialist Party.

In finding that this decision does not violate the Basic Law, the Court said Parliament is entitled to a large degree of freedom in forming its own rules.

The Court approved the ruling with three concurring opinions as well as four dissenting opinions written by Miklós Lévay, András Bragyova, László Kiss and Péter Kovács.
