Hungary's Socialists Promise No Tuition Fees
The Socialist Party would enable all those who achieve the minimum grade on entrance exams to pursue university or college studies without paying tuition fees from September 2014, president Attila Mesterházy announced on Tuesday.

He said universities could define quality requirements according to areas of discipline and those who fail to meet the criteria would have to pay tuition fees.

Fidesz spokesman Péter Hoppál said no matter what the left wing promises as regards tuition fees, it has failed to honour past promises. He said left-wing politicians have consistently spoken of the need to introduce tuition fees.
