Photo Report: Children’s Dance House At Budapest's Palace of Arts
Last Sunday morning I went along to the 'Palace of Arts' (MUPA) to check-out 'Hungarian folk dance for beginners' - and they were truly beginners, some even in their nappies! Once a month, the Children's Dance House is incorporated into the Sunday program of the Palace of Arts. Expert and charismatic dance instructor Farkas Zoltan ‘Batyu’ and his wife Toth Ildiko ‘Fecske’ showed children “hop-hop-titita”, which to you and me means ’jump, jump quick quick, slow‘ teaching them the beginning of their first dance steps.

Then with a bit of trial and error, children went onto learning basic steps of “olahos” and slow and “fresh csardas” from South-Alfold.  There was also a special performance from Sebo Ferenc playing on “tekero”.

This was a high-energy cultural feast for the children and they cooled down by listening to a Hungarian folk tale, which rounded off the morning just nicely.

It's well worth a visit for expats with children.
