Police Raid Király Utca Café In Budapest
Police on Friday night raided the Sirály café on Király utca, said to be the place where the March 7 attack on Fidesz headquarters was organised. Ádám Schönberger, an official with the Marom Budapest Association, which operates the bar, said 100-150 people were in the Sirály when dozens of police officers raided it.

Officials from the Sixth District council simultaneously checked the club and established that, in accordance with an earlier statement, it was not engaged in any banned commercial activity.

Origo reported that a police officer said they were looking for a wanted criminal. Two people unable to identify themselves were detained at the club.

Mayor István Tarlós called the night raid at the downtown club an unnecessary and badly timed overzealous move by the district.

He said it has given a communications platform to an irregularly functioning group, “giving it a chance for the repeated misleading of the general public.”
