Creating and popularising the culture of beer consumption, extending the tourism supply of Békéscsaba, familiarising a wide range of people with the sights and spectacles of Békéscsaba and Békés County, strengthening international relations and introducing gastronomic specialities are included among the goals of the event, which is organised in the greenbelt of the Town Sports Hall in Békéscsaba.
The four-day festival offers a number of delicacies and peculiarities.
On the first day of the event the first beer-barrel comes from the sky as usual, due to parachute jumpers. There has been no other beer festival in the country or perhaps even in the world, where the visitors can familiarise themselves with about 100 types of draft beer and what is more, the brave ones can taste all of them. The big breweries that are well-known in our country along with some Home Craft Breweries will be introducing themselves. It shows the rank of the festival that nearly 50 types of Czech beer can be tasted during the event, familiarising visitors with the Czech beer culture in this way.
At the most popular Beer Festival and the only Knuckle Parade of Hungary the lovers of the “liquid bread” can consume beer from 1-litre mugs in compliance with the traditions.
Of course, the organisers will not forget about the knuckle that matches beer well. In accordance with the traditions, the competition of preparing knuckle stew will be organised on Sunday, where teams of friends will be the centre of attention since they will be given the opportunity to show how well they can cook.
The public will be entertained by live concerts every day; the Big Guns of the Hungarian music business will be appearing on stage.
However, we will not leave you without programmes in the mornings, either. We will offer optional programs with tremendous opportunities to get acquainted with Békéscsaba. You can be on the ground, in water, in the air, on two wheels, even rowing with two hands or on horseback.
The Exhibition and Fair “National Values and Hungaricums of the Carpathian Basin” will be organised for the third time this year within the frameworks of the event, where the visitors can familiarise themselves with the characteristics, agricultural products, peculiarities and craft values of this region, from the farmers living in neighbouring villages to long-established manufacturers.
