Invitation: Exhibition Of   Photographers In The Margaret Island Water Tower In Budapest
New exhibition was opened on 1st September 2013 in the Margaret Island Water Tower’s Visual Art Gallery. The title of this exhibition: The Classics of Hungarian photography – Photos of the City by Demeter Balla, Tamás Féner and Péter Korniss The exhibition displays the work of three photographers whose outstanding contributions have revolutionized classical city photography and who have received the Kossuth Award for their artistic achievements.

The photos of Péter Korniss present the life of a guest worker commuting between Tiszaeszlár and Budapest, for 10 years between 1978-1988.

Demeter Balla Demeter Balla’s work as a photographer begins with pictures of the city from 1956 and continues into the 21st century.

Tamás Féner’s strange compositions without people and with their inclined horizons convey interesting pictorial effects of the city.  Colleague of the Mai Manó Ház, photo-museologist Károly Kincses is the curator of the exhibition.

Further exhibitions can be visited until the end of September:

- On the 1st floor of the Visual Art Gallery can be seen the „Margaret Island on the mirror of historical photographs” exhibition.

The photographs present the island, the water tower and its remaining ruins or perished treasures between 1870 and 2010 through the works of well-known and unknown photographers. On the centenary of his death this year, the legendary city photographer György Klösz also appears among the artists. (the curator: Károly Kincses)

Documents of theater history, posters, photographs of the early ages of the Margaret Island Open-air Stage – In association with the Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute (curators: Mirella Csiszár, Tamás Gajdó)

The exhibitions are open until 30 September 2013, daily between 11am - 8pm.

In case of cold weather the Water Tower is closed!
